Why is the food journal essential while following the protocol?
There has been a couple of times where I have encounter resistance from some clients when I give them their journals and inform that they will need to write everything they eat down and bring it back to me every week. “I don’t have time to write it all down”, “Is this really necessary?”. One of the most important tool in the protocol is the journal. Why? Science tells us that people who journal are more likely to lose the weight and keep it off than those who don’t. One of the main reasons for this is that it keeps them aware of what and how much they are eating at any given moment. Think about it for a second, like most people you probably have a busy lifestyle, there are many things you must do and remember each day; do you believe you will be able to remember everything that you eat and how much of it you had during an entire day without writing it down? You will probably remember some of it, but not all or you might miss the hidden calories in the little things. Let me ask you something, when you must keep track of certain tasks at work, do you tell your boss you don’t have time to keep track of those tasks? I’m thinking no because you will probably get fired! So why not be as diligent and responsible with your health and body? This is exactly what journaling will allow you to do and why is such a critical tool during this journey. Do not skip this step, it will only be a disservice to yourself.
